Father Carota Update

That is the only update I can provide at this moment.

Father has been sick since late summer last year.  He hasn’t posted anything new but 3 times since then.  Many of the articles were re-posted from things he wrote a few years ago, some were from what I wrote, and most were writings from the saints that I put up to continue the blogging.

This blog has been about Father’s journey and how he has helped many people grow in faith and how he has helped them to rediscover tradition. As such, it is hard for others to write on this blog, or to post much of anything because the main writer is not well enough to do so. The personality that we have grown to love and care for is missing, because he is not able to continue writing.

Father has sought treatment for his unidentified issues and has not found any solution for them.  He continues to grow weaker and is unable to eat much or drink water.  Many people have wanted to know what has been done and how they can help.  Father’s brother is a doctor and they have done/tried many things to figure out what is wrong and they simply do not know and he continues to not improve.

The best way you can help, is to pray for healing for Father, and to pray for him to have peace throughout this time and that God’s will may be accomplished.

  1. Saint Therese suffered during childhood from a mysterious physical and psychological disorder which the doctors feared would take her life. Now some scholars believe that some demonic oppression was probably involved. Therese was healed after much prayer by her family when a Statue of Our Lady ( still preserved in her Convent in France) smiled at her. I wonder if Father’s mysterious illness too, is somehow complicated by demonic oppression.

  2. God be with you father on your journey through this illness. Thank you for your gift to the church.

  3. We met Father Peter at Mt Angel Seminary in Mt Angel, OR, when he was studying for the priesthood. He is so kind and generous and he emulated St. Francis. So sorry to hear that he is not well. We will remember him every day in our rosary.

  4. Remind Father that months ago, I had a message for him- ( he’ll remember..I sent him something very special last year which he is supposed to keep on his person always )
that he was supposed to drink/eat ( home-made not canned ) chicken soup.. If he has not done so…please tell him he MUST. It has been proven that there are enzymes in chicken soup ( not canned ) that heal. There was a long study done about 10 or 12 years ago ( for 2 years ) that proved it. The broth, as well as the cooked chicken, some celery. carrots…. Tell him to please try…

  5. Father, you are in my rosaries and other prayers. God be with you. Mrs. Avila may be on to something.

  6. You are in our prayers Father. May your spirit preserver in this incredible trial God has allowed for your soul. His Mercy is shown through your suffering and how your illness has affected us all. May Mother Mary embrace you and hold you to her Immaculate Heart during your darkess hours. Look for God’s Light in every moment of your suffering Father, because He is there with you. May God be with you. Lord have mercy on Father Carota.

  7. Tell father how much we love and miss him. We will continue to pray for him. So thankful that he shared his time, talents and treasures with us!

  8. God bless you, Father Carota! You continue to touch lives as you go through this illness. I am praying for healing for you!

  9. Dear Father,

May God bless and reward you for all you have done to bring the true and traditional Faith so many souls. I will remember you at Mass (Tridentine) each Sunday.

  10. Praying for Father Carota. Ave Maria, gratia plena, Dominus tecum, benedicta tu in mulieribus, et benedictus, fructus, ventris tue, Jesus. Sancta Maria, Mater Dei, ora pro nobis peccatoribus, nunc et in hora mortis nostrae. Amen

  11. Father Peter grows weaker and weaker. He has not eaten anything in over 3 weeks and prior to that was being fed intravenously. He seems to be at peace and his pain is somewhat managed these days although he continues to suffer.

I have known Father for 20 plus years. He has given his all.

    Pray for him and love,

  12. Fr Peter, you are forever in my prayers. I thank Our Lord for the time we were given with you at the levy, and at Mora St. JessiRose is a mommy. Jesus is our forever friend, He honors your faithfulness and carries you in this crisis. Holy Spirit, On This Pentecost, free Fr. Peter from the chains that bind him. In Jesus name we pray. Amen

  13. Father Carota is a True Servant of God. He has touched my life by remaining a Traditional Priest and inspiring me with his posts.
After reading the comments from others here,
I only wish I could be blessed in knowing him personally myself. How much everyone loves him!
You will remain in all of my prayers Father.
    Thank You!
May God our Father, continue to bless and keep you.
Sweet Jesus, Mother Mary and St. Joseph,
    Pray for Father Carota.
    AMEN

  14. Can anyone close to him get him some Holy Oil from the Shrine of Saint Philomena? Prayers for her intercession for Father’s healing might be his remedy. Let us all ask for Saint Philomena’s intercession. She has helped so many, including other Saints. Saint Philomena, ora pro nobis!

  15. I just by chance happened to find this article during my quest to ease my depression and anxiety disorder. It became more acute with my worry over what is the correct direction to go: to go with those sedevacatists who left church, or stay with Pope Francis. It has caused me big suffering mentally because I love Jesus and want to be where He is. I hadn’t been able to function, barely able to take care of myself. Believing the horrible claims of some people saying I would go to hell if I stayed, I had anxiety attacks. If I wasn’t devoted to my rosary, I probably would despair of life and God’s presence in my life. I am just recovering, and I can at least be extremely grateful for Fr Carota charitable viewpoint in this article. His love had touched me. Thank you, thank you, thank you. In my rosary I shall always remember him.

  16. We must all continue to pray for this courageous and holy priest. However, I feel that Father Carota is a victim soul whose sufferings will not be in vain. Father, please know that many souls have benefitted from your teaching and holiness, especially through Holy Mass and the Sacraments. May Our Lord grant you a swift and complete recovery. We need our holy priests during these dark times. Our Lady, Mother of the Clergy, pray for us, pray for Father Carota.

  17. Thank you for the updates. Will keep Father in my prayers throughout the day.

  18. Have the doctors considered the possibility of Father Carota’s illness due to parasite infestation?

He traveled to Mexico a lot, maybe something he ingested like food or drink or possibly touched? It could be something along this train of thought.

    God bless Father Carota.

  19. This humor may be instructive and consoling for us fans of Fr. Carota at this time:
Once, when she was travelling to one of her convents, St. Teresa of Ávila was knocked off her donkey and fell into the mud, injuring her leg. “Lord you couldn’t have picked a worse time for this to happen. Why would you let this happen?”
And the response in prayer that she heard was, “That is how I treat my friends.”

This may be the high cost of discipleship. Read the life story of the saints; or even another possible saint, Mother Angelica. No Easter without Good Friday. Fr. Carota, please, I could use some of your pearls of great price.

    Gaudeamus igitur!

  20. I am new to this blog, which I find very impressive. Fr. Carota’s mission is an incredibly important one. I will pray that he will recover and return to his flock.

  21. Dearest Father Carota,
Your writings and you have been an inspiration to me in my sufferings. I will continue to keep you in my prayers when I say the rosary and pray that God cures you. God’s will be done.

    1. Prayers from Italy as well.
Could those caring after the Father control if it is sort of bacteria as the one discovered in Pennsylvania?

      God bless you Father

  22. from an M.D.
If it hasn’t been done already, Fr. Carota should strongly consider having an RBC magnesium level checked (not a serum magnesium level); the serum magnesium level gives a woefully inaccurate and inadequate assessment of the body’s magnesium stores. ~99% of a person’s magnesium is stored intracellularly with only ~1 % in the blood. Magnesium is a cofactor in ~300-325 essential biochemical reactions in the body and a low total body magnesium, able to be assessed accurately only with an RBC magnesium level, could lead to a host of chronic and debilitating disorders.
Whether this situation is causing his problems, I can’t say, but he won’t know unless this is checked in this manner
    My prayers for Fr. Carota

  23. I will be praying for Father Carota. Thank you for the update. Please let us know if there is anything we his devoted on-line congregants can send/ do for him. Tell him we love him and are praying for him. Meg M.

  24. Father Peter is truly loved and missed by the Latin mass people at St. Catherine of Siena. He did so much for our community and family. He is one of a kind. He was always will ing to go to any length to tell the truth even if it got him in situations. He was too holy. Father cares about our spiritual health above all. It amazes me that people offer physical remedies when this is a spiritual war. Thank you for reminding me to pray for Father.
