Progress

It is Thursday morning, St. Bridget, Oct 8th.  Yesterday, I went to an internist and gastronomist. I go for an upper GI today.  Am very weak and it will mean drinking a liquid.  The processes is 4 hours.  I hope I can get through it.

As much as I try to eat or drink, my bowls react with so much gas that I have to walk and walk for the gas to pass.

Here in California I am trying so hard to eat, but it is not working.  Everyone tries to get me to eat something.  The gastronomist said to drink liquids only.  I drank a small amount of a milk shake last night and it caused great blockage in my guts.  Finally some of the gas passed and I was able to sleep till 4 this morning, with the help of a sleeping pill.

Thank you all for your prayers, love and sacrifices.  My bottom hurts to sit on because I have lost so many pounds.  I have no pain, just weakness and discomfort.

Everyone is treating me so much much love and charity.  Thank you everyone especially the family I am staying with.  May God reward them.

May God help us and have mercy on us sinners, and Mary and the angels and saints help us.  I love and pray for you all and try to offer up what I am going through, but it is very hard to pray in this condition.  So far I have said Mass everyday in silence.

Fr. Peter Carota

PS  I do not have cancer or any disease.

  1. Dear Fr. Carota,
Thank you for sharing your pain and burdens. At first, it was a little uncomfortable to read. But, thinking about it some more, it was my own pride. So, I feel honored to have read about them. You are a wonderful example of what it means to be humble and how to put humility into practice. We all should have at least an ounce of the courage that you are showing. I pray that Our Lord continues to heal you from the inside out and Our Lady continues to look after you spiritually. I’m also praying that Our Lord Jesus give you strength physically and emotionally to walk the path you are on, bearing your cross after Him.
    Respectfully Yours in Christ,
    Christine

  2. praying to Saint John Vianney and Saint Pio for you Father Carota. Hang in there. Your deliverance is coming soon. Hail Mary full of Grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, Pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke Him, we humbly pray. And do thou O Prince of the heavenly host, cast into hell Satin and all the evil spirits who dwell throughout the world, seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

Remember Father, it is an illusion that captivates each of us, a fleeting moment apart from the adorable will of God. A cheap imitation of happiness that will steal our entitlement as sons and daughters of God! Where are your brother priests at this moment to protect and fight for you? You are in great company even if they are not with you right now. Your Guardian Angel is right there, talk to him. He will shield you. Who is you patron saint? Talk to him/her, you will be strenghtened You are MARY’s SON, talk to you Mother! Her mantle is over you. You give us Jesus! Your chastity is a POWERFUL GRACE from GOD!!! “Would that ALL men would be as myself” said Saint Paul the Apostle. I am so mad at Satan for attacking you this way that I am going to pray a Chaplet of Saint Michael for you, Father…Call on all of your Saint Priests! Saint Maximillian Kolbe, pray for Father Corata! Saint Thomas Acquinas pray for Father Corata! Saint Louis de Montfort, Pray for Father Corata! God bless you Father, your going to be alright. Your daughter in Christ, Donna

  3. Your Reverence,
What a dreadful temptation to have to battle; my condoleances and best wishes for you to corageously “fight the good fight.”
It’s a little unfortunate that those pushing for a “married” priesthood will hold you up as an example of “repression” caused by celibacy. [I would be a little more general/give less detail for that reason…] This is a total lie – you are being attacked [with God’s permission] & the same kind of obsession could be inflicted upon a married man.
I realize that it is a great gift when we are sheltered from such temptations. I can feel the protection of my Angel Guardian in this sense, like feeling reverberations within a bunker from shells blasting outside… some of us are spared this. It is mysterious why you are chosen to be tried in this way, but keep in mind that each time you resist, you can save another from the temptation! This may in fact be an answer to your prayers for purity in others – God is giving you the option to purchase it for them/for us sheep by your suffering. You also get to pay off debts, like Ste Teresa de Avila did with a similar illness that lasted several years [& for which she had asked His Majesty to send her].
Thank you – persevere for the love of souls & try not to think of yourself.
    In Christo et Maria,
    Thérèse

  4. Recall, too, that St Jerome suffered from concupiscence so much he had to hide in the desert the rest of his life, channeling it into a work that changed the course of history & the Latin language forever! [Latin Vulgate translation of the Holy Scriptures]
May he pray for & sustain you.

  5. Another great who suffered in this way: Saint Francis. He threw himself naked into a thornbush, tearing his own flesh, fighting concupiscence. Fear not…far above our ways are The LORD’s!

  6. Thank you Father for updating us all. We love you and the work you do to save souls! You are in our nightly prayers and we think of you often during the day.
    God Bless you!

  7. God bless you Fr. Carota. We have missed you very much here in south Phoenix. You have really touched so many lives. Thank you for bringing the sacraments and solid Catholic life. We hope you feel better and hope to see you soon. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

  8. The devil is trying his best to corrupt the Church during the Synod on the Family. People like you are suffering elsewhere for the purity of the Faith and the gift of perseverance for all of the members of His Body, the Church militant. Our Lady is reported to have said at La Salette: “Fight, children of Light!” Our prayers are here to comfort you, Father. Fight the good fight – because most of us are too weak for sufferings such as you have. May Our Lady bless and keep you! PS

  9. Dear Father,

Is it possible you have developed a lactose intolerance? It is less common but still possible among Europeans. Dairy is one of the leading GI aggravator.
