The prior of Norcia, Fr. Cassian will offer the Latin Mass tomorrow, Saturday, Aug. 8th at 8 am at St. Catherine’s of Siena 6200 S. Central Ave, Phoenix Arizona.
Fr. Cassian is the prior of the Benedictines in charge of San Benedetto Basilica, Norcia Italy, built on the site where St. Benedict and his twin sister, St. Scholastica, were born.
This monastery has it roots from the Benedictine Community started in Rome in 1998. They then moved to Norcia in 2000. In 2009, they were given permision from the Holy See offer the Holy Mass and to pray the Office in both the Ordinary form and the Extra Ordinary Form, (Latin). The other name of the monastery is Maria Sedes Sapientiae.
This community is important because they began to return back to traditional Catholicism with permission from the Vatican.
