From reading the Holy Bible, it is quite obvious that Jesus and the devil and other evil spirits exist. What amazed people was Jesus’ power over satan. This is one of the things that proves that He is God.
‘At that time Jesus was casting out a devil, and the same was dumb. And when He had cast out the devil, the dumb spoke, and the multitudes were in admiration at it.’ Luke 11:14.
We traditional Catholics believe very much in Christ the King and Christendom. This means that we believe Jesus is God and Lord over His Church, society, countries, governments, schools, families and individuals.
But we also know that there is a great struggle today in the Church, in society, in our families and in our very selves between Jesus being our King or the devil being our king. It would be foolish to not know that there is a battle going on for our soul and all the other souls whom Jesus created and died for.
This battle is till death. It is immortal combat. So we had better be sure we are on the right side, Jesus’ side.
‘For know you this, and understand, that no fornicator, or unclean or covetous person, which is a serving of idols, hath inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no man deceive you with vain words : for because of these things cometh the anger of God upon the children of unbelief.’ Ephesians 5:5-6
If we live in the flesh and satisfying its sinful nature we are not part of the Kingdom of Christ the King, but that of the kingdom of the devil.
Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are fornication, uncleanness, immodesty, luxury, Idolatry, witchcrafts, enmities, contentions, emulations, wraths, quarrels, dissensions, sects, Envies, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like. Of the which I foretell you, as I have foretold to you, that they who do such things shall not obtain the kingdom of God. Galatians 5:19-21
But the fruit of the Spirit is, charity, joy, peace, patience, benignity, goodness, longanimity, Mildness, faith, modesty, continency, chastity. Against such there is no law. And they that are Christ’ s, have crucified their flesh, with the vices and concupiscences.’ Galatians 5:22-24.
We can not do the battle against satan and his fiends alone, we need Jesus and Mary. We have recourse to them through PRAYER. We also have our brothers and sisters saints praying for us in heaven and the holy souls in purgatory.
On the cross, when blood and water poured out of Jesus’ side, He gave us the holy sacraments of the Catholic Church as weapons to do battle agains the devils kingdom. These are the Holy Sacraments of Baptism, Confession, Confirmation and Holy Communion. These Holy Sacraments were made efficacious when Jesus sacrificed His life for us on the cross. He purchased us, cleansed us, adopted us as children of God and freed us from the devil.
But the battle and struggle goes on everyday. We are tugged by the devil, the flesh and the world to belong to the devils kingdom. But we, through humble heart felt prayer and the Holy Sacraments, have access to Jesus and Mary’s power to be free from our enemies, (flesh, devil, world).
We are so blessed to be traditional Catholics and to know that we have been purchased by Jesus’ Precious Blood and belong to Christ the King. But we still have to be careful to not be tricked by the devil and end up for ever in his kingdom of hell.
What is the area in my life that is still under the power of darkness, the flesh and the devil? God, Mary help me get free. Please give me all the graces necessary to fight all temptations and to avail myself to the Holy Sacraments.
