Everyone is looking for love and fulfillment. God is the source of all Love and Fulfillment. We access this love through the Holy Sacraments of the Catholic Church, prayer and being with other holy Catholics. The secondary place to find love and fulfillment is the family. And the third place to find this is in holy friendships.
In order to be happy and live a meaningful life, we need God, family and friends. So, after working on our relation with God, it behooves us to work diligently on making our marriage and family better.
Ideally it would be great if each family member was on the same spiritual page. Where each one is a traditional Catholic and deeply loves God above all things. In this way each member will be avoiding sin that destroys himself and his family. Sin divides families, holiness unites families. Most family members are not on the same spiritual or intellectual page. So, in spite of this, we work for more love and understanding between us and we patiently pray and work for unity in truth.
We can see in the Holy Family the virtues to be worked on.
Jesus, Mary and St. Joseph were all very holy. If we want family, we have to have holiness, nothing else works. When each member of the family is praying, loving God, going to church, the rest of the family life works well. When one is not holy or does not want to be holy, it is very difficult have family love and unity. The devil is in this person or persons and is the cause of family division, as always.
Humility is not easy, but we must ask for and work for it everyday. Let us start by admitting we are all stuffed full of pride. Jesus, God, humble of heart. Mary, Mother of God, slave of the Lord. St. Joseph a simple carpenter.
Obedience is so so important. The father has to be obedient to God and the Church’s teachings. The Mother has to be obedient to God and her husband. The Children have to be obedient to the God and their parents and elders. This is one of the most difficult virtues to have and practice, obeying, and obeying quickly and with love.
We can just feel the love that Jesus has for Mary and St. Joseph. And the love was reciprocal. Every morning we need to make a pledge of love to God and the family we live with or belong to. The more we show, love the more it grows in our families. It is not an emotional love, but a desire to show love no matter how we feel and to put the love into action and words.
We are so blessed to be traditional Catholics and know that love and fulfillment come from God, Family and good Friends. But we also know that it takes a lot of hard work and prayer. The Family That Prays Together Stays Together.
