Saturday night I heard gun shots. This happens here around every month. As I have said before, there is a drug and prostitute house across the street from our rectory. So it is common to hear shooting.
But when I drove by the El Reposo Park on that street, I saw a cross and many candles for Isaac Lopez. He was only 19 years old. At the marriage class, I asked if anyone knew what happened. One couple told me that he had been shot Saturday night in a parked car. I have no facts to back up this hunch. No matter what, it deeply troubles me that a young man should have his life taken from him. I was told that it was a 50 year old white man, with three others, who beat him up, broke a tooth and shot him 13 times.
We need to get back to strong Catholic teachings on what is moral and how to live a holy life. We need to fight against the culture that led to Isaac’s death. Each one of us needs to dedicate ourselves to reforming the Catholic Church. We are so blessed to be traditional Catholics and to be fighting for the lives and souls of our youth.
