The first week following Ash Wednesday is the Spring Lenten Ember days. Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. This year that means tomorrow, Wednesday March 12, Friday March 14 and Saturday March 15.
On Ember Wednesday and Ember Saturday you fast with 1 complete meal with meat and 2 small meals without meat. NO food between meals.
On Ember Friday, you fast (1 complete meal and 2 half meals) and abstain (from meat).
These Ember Days fall in Spring when we are preparing our soul and our fields for new growth that will bear great fruit.
