For the Loss of a Nail.
For want of a nail the horseshoe was lost.
For want of a shoe the horse was lost.
For want of a horse the rider was lost.
For want of a rider the message was lost.
For want of a message the battle was lost.
For want of a battle the kingdom was lost.
And all for the want of a horseshoe nail.
Of all times for me to be here in Mexico, the presidents of the United States, Mexico and the Prime Minister of Canada are meeting today (Feb. 19, 2014) over the North American Trade Agreement. These agreements, like the European Union, are nothing more than a preparation for a one world order so that the antichrist can rule over the world by impose universal laws. And of all places, they are meeting in Toluca, the big city that is only one hour from where I am staying (Malinalco).
I am praying for this meeting and our countries, and I would appreciate all of you who read this to pray too. If you would just offer up the Rosaries you would ordinarily pray for the conversion of our presidents and of the United States, Mexico and Canada.
Interestingly enough, also today, at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City, is the annual pilgrimage from the State of Mexico, of which Toluca is the Capital. For the first time in hundreds of years, they were unable to leave from the Cathedral of Toluca to start the pilgrimage (heading for Mexico City) because of all the security for the summit meeting. I do not think Our Lady of Guadalupe is very happy about this. My neighbors left at 1 am this morning to go on the pilgrimage. They are going to pray to God and Mary, at the Basilica, for the conversion of our presidents and our countries while they are there today.
The environment here in Mexico for the Holy Latin Mass is what I call “caustic”. Yet everywhere I go I hear about Catholics having problems in their marriages and drug and alcohol abuse. The people I have known for years and whose sons played soccer with me when they were young, now are living together with their girlfriends without thinking anything about it. All the women, except one old lady, wear pants. My good friends sell tight pants to women and work on Sunday. I have told them it is wrong, but they go right on doing it. And these are people who are trying to be somewhat good Catholics.
Like in the United States, most see that things are getting worse and worse. But I never see anyone realizing that the problem is that we are not living the Catholic faith as Jesus would want us to. All the drug Cartels and kidnapping are from people disobeying God’s rules.
Most people have their picture of Our Lady of Guadalupe in their houses. Some go to mass on Sundays. Many make the sign of the cross when crossing in front of a church. Most celebrate the towns Patrons Feast day. But there is always one or two or three or more of the commandments that they choose to disobey. Everyone practices their Catholic faith according to how they want to, according to what they think is right. When it comes to what it means to follow Jesus by being a Catholic Christian, there is absolutely no absolutes.
There is a story about “for the loss of a nail the battle was lost”. It goes something like this. An important messenger was riding to relate important information for the battle when one of nail came out the horseshoe. Little by little the shoe worked loose and the horse fell, and the rider fell and could not deliver the message to the king. And because of this, the king lost the war and from the war he lost his kingdom. The supposed real story is that King Richard III of England horse got stuck in mud and he lost the Battle of Bosworth on 22 August 1485. He exclaimed: “A horse, A horse, My kingdom for a horse.”
It is the same when it comes to obeying all of the commandments of Jesus Christ as good Catholics. If we justify disobeying one, all the rest fall apart and the soul is lost for ever. It is like obeying all the other 9 commandments, but disobeying the 3rd. commandment of not keeping holy the Lord’s day. It says, neither you, nor your workers, nor your slaves nor your animals can work on the Lord’s day. When do you every hear it is a sin to work on Sunday in any Sunday homily? Yet it is clearly a sin to work on Sunday, (unless you work in Medicine to save lives or to milk a cow that has to be milked everyday).
So each one of us can do what we can to live all the commandments of love out of love for God, ourselves, our family, our world and our Catholic Church. And we, as priest can offer the powerful Latin Mass for the conversion of sinners. If only the bishops would see the importance of the Holy Latin Mass and allow and support the Latin Mass they would see great changes for the good. If only the priests would offer the Holy Latin Mass there would be great miracles too. If only Catholics would again believe in the power of the Latin Mass and support it, they too would have a safer world to live in. The devil is behind all the mess in the world and he is made helpless by the Latin Mass. And that is why he hates it.
In the mean, time each one of us can simply pray at the Holy latin Mass and offer our Holy Rosary for the conversions of sinners as requested at Fatima by Our Lady. We can offer up all our sicknesses, pains, sadnesses and difficulties to Our Lord for the conversion of the world, starting with us Catholics.
