The Vatican’s Congregation for the Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Way on July 11, 2013 issued a decree that every religious of the congregation of the Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate is required to celebrate the Novus Ordo rite any extraordinary form (Tridentine Mass) must be authorized by the competent authorities, for every religious that makes the request.
The Franciscan Friars are an new and growing order. Like many priest, this order started with the New Mass and started learning the Tridentine Mass. As is always the case, once you experience the difference in reverence, sacredness, beauty, care given to Jesus in the Holy Communion, you only want to do the Tridentine Mass.
There has to be something wrong with you if you are not moved by offering the Tridentine Mass as a priest. The reason is that you love Jesus and want the best for Him and for others. It is simply charity and holiness.
So suppressing what Summorum Pontificum allows will only backfire on the church. God loves that there are religious and priest who want what is sacred and prayerful.
The Tridentine Mass was never abrogated, as Pope Benedict stated recently. That means even the pope can not stop it. How can what was held holy for 1500 years now be seen as evil and to be stopped.
As the early christians were persecuted, and then went out to escape, they brought the gospel to the ends of the earth, so will this persecution only spread the Holy Latin Mass to more parts of the world.
The Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate are respected all over the world from the internet and known in all the places they have been offering the Latin Mass. So all those who will not be able to have them offer the Holy Mass and hear of what is happening will spread the truth of how the church is persecuting holy religious for their love of a mass that has never been abrogated and is permitted by Summorum Pontificum.
Word has it that the pope is also in accordance with the decree. At the end of World Youth Day, the pope met with the bishops from Latin America. In that meeting he brought up “the Pelagian solution where solutions to the problems is sought the the restoration of “OUTDATED MANNERS AND FORMS” that are no longer meaningful. Small groups and new religious congregations. ”Basically it is static, although it is capable of inversion, in a process of REGRESSION. It seeks to “recover”the lost past.
I thought that Pelagianism is thinking you can be saved without divine grace, and that man is capable of living a good life on his own will power. What does that have to do with the Holy Latin Mass and new growing traditional orders?
All over the world priests and religious (and some bishops and cardinals too) have discovered the “Mass of All Ages” and are excited about offering this Mass. Youth all over the world love it and are behind the restoration of tradition. The pope said at WYD for the youth to let their voices be heard to priests and bishops, and he added, even if they get upset. Are you youth allowed to tell your priests and bishops how much you know and love the Tridentine Mass???????? Did the pope mean you traditional youth or only the liberal youth. Most of the youth at the WYD are conservative. They have already found liberalism to be empty. That is why they love tradition, because it gives them something to believe in and to live for. I hope they all do talk with respect to the bishops and priests. I hope they find at least a few who are respectful enough to listen to them.
This action of the congregation has a lot of traditionalist despairing. That is not what God wants. He wants us to be reminded that the boat is turning around by the youth and young families. When in 15 years the “Biological Solutions” has taken place, there will be great flourishing of the Holy Latin Mass again. What ever is worthwhile, is worth suffering for. It is just very tragic that you youth and young families have to suffer at the hand of the church who should be extending you a helping hand and a welcome. Sad to say that is why so many people are leaving the church and going to evangelicals or the society to get firm teaching and a welcome.
